Brigitte Thériault
Photographer, artist multidisciplinary and entrepreneurial.
Born in Charlesbourg, Quebec, Canada, in 1974.
"From 1988 to 1991, I experimented with different camera and darkroom techniques. Following studies in this field in Montreal, I became a professional and worked in various fields such as fashion, events and artists' portraits. My photographs have been published in several Quebec magazines and newspapers. In 1994, I wrote a dozen covers for Quebec City's Voir cultural newspaper. Over the years, I have also worked in advertising photography and interior design.
In 2007, I launched my limited-edition collections of traditional photographs, and my minimalist natures made their way into art galleries and were represented across Canada and the United States.
On occasion, I'm a teacher, speaker and judge for various photography events, and I share my travel photo stories in magazines and newspapers such as Nomade Mag, Le Soleil and La Presse.
From 2013 to 2019, I left Quebec with my husband and our three children for a fascinating immersion adventure on the island of Kauai, Hawaii. This experience inspired me to create, with my photographs of Kauai's tropical flora, a collection of floral motifs, the collection Kauai
Training
- 1995-1996 Concordia University, minor in photography and film.
- 1991-1994 Cégep du Vieux-Montréal, photography.
Artistic approach
Artist-photographer Brigitte Thériault does not reduce her field of action to a discourse on photography. An impressionist artist, she subjects her photographic eye to the film, cultivating raw instinct.
As a globetrotter, she strives to capture the beauty of a landscape, of a fleeting moment caught on the sly, her work is resolutely aesthetic, she approaches photography like a painting. This thirst for wild freedom, this quest for the sublime and the ideal, so dear to romantic minds, is revealed in her series "Vivia" and "Pastel", two series that oppose light and darkness, lost paradise and realism, languor and happiness, solitude and family.
Moreover, the sublimated nature, these great desert spaces, these winter clouds on summer impression, these blurred added to increase or disguise the reality give to see works which constantly defy the beauty, it borrows from the nature by beam, by flash, without ever perverting it. - Michaël Lachance, art critic, essayist. 2015

Among the exhibitors on rue Sainte-Anne, Brigitte Thériault is a multidisciplinary artist from Quebec City. A passionate photographer, she uses her images to create motifs on fabric. These textiles are then transformed into cushion covers, bags, scrunchies and home accessories. Her creative inspiration comes from her travels and the years she spent in Hawaii. Now based near Charlesbourg, she also creates unique pottery pieces.

To appreciate Brigitte Thériault's photographic works is to share with her the privileged moments she has captured. Thanks to her visual tact, she looks at nature and humanizes it through gentle and accurate interventions. The artist's metamorphosed natures offer a focal point where the best of nature and human ingenuity converge.
Mastering instinctively the laws of harmonious composition, Brigitte Thériault likes the logical arrangement and repetition of certain elements that allow for visual harmony. Thériault commits herself to a photographic space where nature is imbued with poetry.
